A man who is on trial for killing his ex wife appeared in court today. Mr Stephen Lay has been accused of murdering Ms Carol Reeves, 48, of Brighton Hill, Basingstoke on the 26^th May 2007.

The couple who were previously divorced but recently had been living with each other on and off had an argument “which escalated into violence”  Winchester Crown Court heard.

The court heard today that Ms Carol Reeves was a “personal person” and that she “kept herself to herself”.

Mr Lay denies the charge of Murder.

The trial continues.

Mr Alan Burns an engineer was today convicted in Winchester Crown Court of grievous bodily harm, along with his son Mr Wayne Burns after they both attacked a co-worker.

Mr Luke Berry who worked with Alan Burns at the Clearwater Drainage Company was punched, kicked and had his hair pulled as the father and son duo unleashed their anger on him.

A court heard today that the relationship between the two co-workers was not great. Justice Longbotham said “There was clearly a personality clash between Mr Berry and Mr Burns”

Ms Duncan, who is Alan Burns’ Solicitor described the attack as follows: Alan Burns who had an argument with Luke Berry walked away from the site which they were working at, after calling his partner with no response he called his son who then returned to the site and walked up to Mr Berry saying “Come on Berry lets have it” Wayne then grabbed him by the throat, After the attack the father and son left Mr Berry unconscious at the work site.

Wayne Burns, 38, who has a history of violence and has spent the majority of the last three years in jail, was sentenced to two and a half years in prison followed by a fifteen month licence period. Wayne Burns was described as a man of violence by the court today as he was convicted of GBH.

Alan Burns, 58, who suffers from diabetes was sentenced to 32 weeks in custody which is suspended for two years, he will also have to complete 120 hours of unpaid work.

Luke Berry will not receive compensation.

To make this a balanced story I would go to the department for transport for more information, I would then talk to both English and American people to find out their opinions on this subject as well as people who are in the air services and who it would effect directly.

Firstly, i would like to say i hate computers, i have already spent and hour and a half typing my blog tonight i then went to save it and it decided to delete all my work, so i am not happy!!

Anyway life goes on so i will try to remember what i wrote!!

Friedrich Nietzsche was a German philosopher who was born in 1844 he stated and believed “what does not kill us makes us stronger”. This has a connection to the American artist Kanye West who was born over a century later in 1977 who had a chart topping hit with the song “Stronger” which used the same quote as the German philosopher.

Mad Max was an action thriller film set in Australia starring Mel Gibson. It was released in 1979. The character that is Mad Max lives by the same quote in the film, as you see his son and best friend die before his eyes, yet he does not stop, he carries on to take revenge on those who killed them.

Thomas Hobbes was an English philosopher who was born in 1588 he was best known for his political views. Hobbes believed that human beings would end up in war and violence if there was not one person or a group of people who would decide every social and political issue.

This links into the rule of law which mainly means that no one is above the law, Hobbes is saying that the humans as a public need people to set out and keep in place the law, which is what the rule of law is doing.

I believe that everyone should be equal no one person is above the law, it should not make a difference if you are a dustbin man from Leeds or Paris Hilton.

I am sorry if this seems a little rushed but i had already done my first blog which was amazing and i think it is safe to say deserved at least a 70.

I have just had my first lecture of the semester on People and Politics, It was very interesting. I do not know that much about politcians, i am far more interesed in Hollywood Celebrities and Acting and who wore what where! But i am keen to learn as it should help me to get a degree. I am sure i will know a lot more by the end of the twelve weeks and look foward to studying Great Britains politicians.
